Educational toys
An educational toy could be any toy, but it should educate. It should instruct, promote intellectuality, emotional or physical development. An educational toy can teach a child about a particular subject or can help a child develop a particular skill. An educational toy affords the child a learning and developmental experience. A pebble can be as important an educational toy as the most researched, intricate and instructive toy.
Sensory integration
The ability of a person’s body to organise body sensations and environmental sensations, match them and adapt appropriately to the demand of the task, situation or person. This means that we all handle noise, food/clothing textures, fairground rides, etc in different ways. The sensory system of some people is highly sensitive and others will walk through a crowded mall without noticing a sound. How do we deal with this? For example, what can a child do when there is too much noise in the classroom for him/her to focus on the task at hand? Only then can he/she do effective intellectual learning. (“The brain must register, select, interpret, compare, and associate sensory information in a flexible, constantly-changing pattern" Jean Ayres) Click here to read more about sensory integration...
